Beijing Daxing International Airport, the world’s largest aviation hub that has just started operation, will impress the world with its ingenious designs, especially the pioneering barrier-free system.

The mega airport classifies those with disabilities into three groups according to their respective special needs in movement, hearing and vision, said Liu Cong, designer of the barrier-free system.

Efforts are made in eight aspects to offer special care for those in need, including barrier-free parking, passageways, public transportation, special-care security check, service facilities, boarding bridges, signboards, and customer service, Liu added.

The major barrier-free facilities at the airport include roadside parking space, wheelchair ramps connecting roads and sidewalks, accessible counters, multi-functional barrier-free restrooms, barrier-free elevators, exclusive boarding facilities and tactile paving.

The barrier-free system is a world-class design jointly made by the China Disabled Person's Federation (CDPF) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), said Lyu Shiming, vice chairperson of the CDPF. It is an important mark that symbols the modernized construction of the airport and its humanistic care.
